Has Bermuda invaded your pretty fescue lawn?
Ready to get rid of it?
Now is the time to start making plans to kill it! July is the time
to start killing Bermuda. You should fertilize the lawn, as we want
the Bermuda actively growing. Our chemical of choice is
Hi-Yield Killzall, wait
24 hours then continue to water as normal. In 10 to 14 days your grass
should appear brown and looking dead. This is when you will use your
lawn mower, setting it as low as it will go and scalp the lawn. After
you mow you should water it as normal. In about 7days or so you may
see more green lawn and at this time you may need to reapply your
Killzall to the green areas and wait another 24 hours before watering
again. After waiting another 10 to 14 days, mow again. It may be
possible that you may still need another application. Once you have a
good kill, it will be ready to power rake or slice, and reseed.
A good choice for seed is Kansas Premium Fescue blend. It is the
right blend of fine blade fescue grass seed that has rated the highest
at Kansas State University turf trials. If you have questions come out
and see us at Bornholdt Plantland and we can help you
turn your brown to
green!
